I remember as a young girl getting my first box of Whitman’s Chocolates and the delight of choosing one. Biting into it I find my favorite. Caramel and nuts. It was a wonderful satisfying feeling to know, that I had chosen wisely. I savored the flavor, letting the taste linger for moments of pure sweet yumminess…and, I always added the, ummmm!
Shall I choose again? What if I get one that is bitter and has that awful jelly inside? I hover over the choices…not realizing there is information that would tell me exactly which one was which.
Here goes…I take my pick. I bite into it. Salivary glands begin to salivate…the look of disgust and disapproval immediately show up in my facial expressions…I run to the trash can and spit.…Horrible that was horrible!
Oh if it were just that simple to figure out before we’ve made that wrong choice in life…not so easily fixed. But there is always a solution.
We will remember to never, choose that chocolate ever again…
What choices are you hovering over today?
Will it be one of sheer delight and happiness because you chose wisely?
Or will you need to run and spit?
I found out, but only after a whole bunch of running and spitting, to finally take every decision and every choice I make, to the, Lord.
His Word, which He so graciously has given us, will never, ever let you go astray…
You see the words in the Bible are like the chocolates in the box…only, with His Word, you will never ever choose unwisely. Because His word is truth and life!
If I had only read the information in the box, about which chocolate was which, I would have chosen my favorite chocolate every time!!!
God wants to help you choose wisely. To savor the best life you could ever imagine. Read His word first before making the choice!
His chocolates are UMMMM….every time!

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 New International Version (NIV)
“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:14-15 New International Version (NIV)
Elijah at Mount Carmel
So Ahab summoned all the Israelites and gathered the prophets at Mount Carmel. Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? (how long are you going to hover over those two chocolates before you take it to God? Para by me.) If Yahweh is God, follow Him. But if Baal, follow him.” 1 Kings 18:20-24Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
